I always enjoy watching mental gymnastics.
Defund the police.

The truth is we need serious criminal justice reform.
We need to strictly limit the number of federal policing agencies because they are the most dangerous, and always have been.
We need limits on local police because our rights come first.
We need simplified laws.
We need to respect the rights of not only all Americans but all humans as well. Because if our rights are not inalienable to our humanity, then they are granted by the whim of the government that determines them.
Interesting question…some have said free the original constitution as well. Would those laws even work in the world we live in today? I do agree that our justice system needs a complete overhaul but where to begin with such a daunting task? Do we start with term limits like the founding fathers intended? Do we restrict Congress from voting their own pay and insurance? A major reformation would likely take us away from a democracy because in of itself with each law we pass moves it further away anyway? I would love to see how others feel in this chat room so to speak…
First, I believe the Declaration of Independence is the place to start when considering our rights as humans. Every human has been granted certain inalienable rights (these rights cannot be forfeited or taken). We must recognize human rights before we can possess American rights.
Second, we need to exercise our rights, defend them, and fight for them. We must stop allowing politicians to pit us against one another—black versus white, male versus female, Christian versus non-Christian, gay versus straight…. (To be clear I am four of those things and not the other four, but my point is that all humans have human rights.). Politicians use the media to rile up their bases and cause US to fight one another. Paul, the Apostle, once told US that if we bite and devour one another; we should take heed lest we consume one another. We need to stand up for one another against the corporate state.
