It is followed by four categories each at 13%. One of those four is interest on the national debt. Think of that—tied for the second largest expenditure of the federal government is interest. The larger problem is that it will only increase unless we begin to rein it in.
Finally, the largest issue with our debt is that it is being serviced by printed/ digitally created currency. The currency creation is of the utmost importance because the ability to create currency out of thin air gives our Federal Government virtually unlimited power. The ability to create currency is quite literally the single greatest threat to our individual freedoms.

Women have ostensibly been asked this question: If you were alone, would you rather meet a bear or a man in the woods?
“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
For those chanting this slogan and supporting this sentiment, I have a few questions:
Some of the supporters chanting this slogan are basically the same as chickens marching to support KFC.
Has the Israeli government done things that are wrong in this conflict that goes back decades—actually millennia? Of course they have. ALL human governments are guilty of atrocities by virtue of the fact that they are run by humans who have too much power, but that fact does not excuse the immoral and illogical position stated in the slogan that introduced this rant.
Some form of negotiated settlement needs to be agreed upon so that all residents of Palestine can live in some semblance of freedom and safety. After all, that’s the only legitimate purpose of any human government, and ANY human who agrees to allow others to live in peace and do their own thing should be allowed to do the same.
]]>Finally, you may not agree with all of my positions (In fact, I don’t always agree with them after discussion and thought), but we must stop vilifying and demonizing one another if we are going to solve some of our biggest problems.
]]>I was always very interested in history, politics, government, demographics, economics… you get the idea—even in high school. My political instinct has always leaned very libertarian. Even though I personally have a strong desire to see fairness, equality, charity… implemented in our society; I’ve never viewed the government as the best mechanism to accomplish those goals. I really have never seen a better idea for government than maximum individual freedom with minimum government regulation.
Don’t misunderstand. I believe crime should be punished. Murder, assault, robbery, rape, kidnapping—crimes that have an actual victim should be punished, and we need systems in place for justice, law enforcement, and penalties. Where we go wrong is creating crimes where no harm is done to another human being.
Now here’s my point: there used to be a time when true conservatives and libertarians agreed on many issues—simply because that which was being conserved was the Constitution and it’s Bill of Rights. That is simply no longer the case. The most recent “conservative” President actually increased the debt and federal spending, increased gun regulations, and routinely called for for actions that violated the Fourth, Sixth, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments.
Republicans now have a chance to choose someone who at least talks the talk of Constitutional Conservatism. The question that remains is, will they?

“Political factions may seek to obstruct the execution of the laws created by the government or to prevent the branches of government from exercising the powers provided to them by the constitution. Such factions may claim to be trying to answer popular demands or solve pressing problems, but their true intentions are to take the power from the people and place it in the hands of unjust men.”
