“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

For those chanting this slogan and supporting this sentiment, I have a few questions:

1. Will there be freedom of religion in this “Free Palestine”?
2. Will there be voting rights for every citizen, regardless of ethnicity in this “Free Palestine”?
3. Will Jews be allowed to be citizens in this “Free Palestine ”?
4. In fact, will Jews be allowed to live anywhere inside or even outside of this “Free Palestine”?
5. Will this “Free Palestine” support the rights of all people, regardless of sexual orientation?
6. Will Hamas rule this “Free Palestine”?
7. Will Iran exert control over this “Free Palestine” to continue to foment and support terrorism around the globe?
8. Will this “Free Palestine” be a terrorist state?

Some of the supporters chanting this slogan are basically the same as chickens marching to support KFC.

Has the Israeli government done things that are wrong in this conflict that goes back decades—actually millennia? Of course they have. ALL human governments are guilty of atrocities by virtue of the fact that they are run by humans who have too much power, but that fact does not excuse the immoral and illogical position stated in the slogan that introduced this rant.

Some form of negotiated settlement needs to be agreed upon so that all residents of Palestine can live in some semblance of freedom and safety. After all, that’s the only legitimate purpose of any human government, and ANY human who agrees to allow others to live in peace and do their own thing should be allowed to do the same.
