(This message was added in version 6.7.0.) in /home1/curtandt/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 6170I was always very interested in history, politics, government, demographics, economics… you get the idea—even in high school. My political instinct has always leaned very libertarian. Even though I personally have a strong desire to see fairness, equality, charity… implemented in our society; I’ve never viewed the government as the best mechanism to accomplish those goals. I really have never seen a better idea for government than maximum individual freedom with minimum government regulation.
Don’t misunderstand. I believe crime should be punished. Murder, assault, robbery, rape, kidnapping—crimes that have an actual victim should be punished, and we need systems in place for justice, law enforcement, and penalties. Where we go wrong is creating crimes where no harm is done to another human being.
Now here’s my point: there used to be a time when true conservatives and libertarians agreed on many issues—simply because that which was being conserved was the Constitution and it’s Bill of Rights. That is simply no longer the case. The most recent “conservative” President actually increased the debt and federal spending, increased gun regulations, and routinely called for for actions that violated the Fourth, Sixth, Ninth, and Tenth Amendments.
Republicans now have a chance to choose someone who at least talks the talk of Constitutional Conservatism. The question that remains is, will they?

“Political factions may seek to obstruct the execution of the laws created by the government or to prevent the branches of government from exercising the powers provided to them by the constitution. Such factions may claim to be trying to answer popular demands or solve pressing problems, but their true intentions are to take the power from the people and place it in the hands of unjust men.”

]]>How would you improve your community?
Sometimes the news can seem overwhelming. We hear of war in Ukraine, inflation fears, corrupt judges and politicians, and out of control bureaucrats; and we wonder what we can do. To me it’s clear that politics isn’t the answer. My focus has turned away from politics and to my community. I try to do the right things each day and focus on my family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and clients. In other words—my neighbors.
Does that mean I ignore national Al and international news? No, but I don’t obsess about it or let it control my daily attitude and actions.
What do you do in you community? What are some things you do to improve the world around you?

Good article from the perspective of two Republicans:

]]>I understand the GOP isn’t a great political party (as do most Americans), but if the Dems continue to double-down on supporting trans surgery for minors, abortion in all cases, lying about inflation, and just plain denying objective facts and common sense; they are going to drive independents to the GOP in the next election. After hearing so much craziness in the last couple of years; I could not in good conscience vote for a Democrat. I honestly don’t know what to do at this point. I think many Americans feel the same.
